Impossibiology is a publishing platform (currently in development) that takes the form of a “queer(ed) crypto-bestiary” for queer writers and writers of color. Taking cues from traditional field guide books, the site serves as a compendium of entries about different cryptids from all over the world. Each entry consists of a brief description of the cryptid, and a creative piece exploring marginalized identity using the creature and its lore as a prompt. The cryptid is used as a conduit for marginalized people because of the way the stories and embodied experiences of both have been categorically denied by dominant social, narrative, and scientific models. The project is a testimony to the vitality and vibrance of these othered lives and stories.
